After Hours Resources

Nurse Advice/After Hours Resources at Pediatrics West

At Pediatrics West, we know there is a certain degree of uncertainty about when certain illnesses and injuries in children require evaluation by a medical professional. The answer is to go with your gut as you, as your child’s parent/guardian, are the experts on them.

We have many resources that can help you make this determination…

  1. In case of an emergency, call 911.
  2. Utilize the ChildrensMD free mobile app. This can guide you, using symptom checker, to determine if your child needs to be seen and if it requires an urgent/emergency visit or can wait until Pediatrics West opens. Often this is the same information that nurses will use when giving verbal advice on the triage phone line. There are medication dosage tables, access to the 24/7 nurse advice line, and a location finder for the multiple Children’s Hospital Colorado Urgent Care/Emergency Departments. We also have a “Is Your Child Sick” tab on our website that can be helpful to help you make this decision.
  3. Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30: Pediatrics West offers nurse advice and triage. Call 720-284-3700 to be connected. Phones are off 12-1 for lunch
  4. If it is outside these hours, you can still call our 24-hour support line at 720-284-3700 and will be transferred to receive nurse advice from Children’s Hospital Colorado. Sometimes these calls, if deemed more complicated, will be transferred to the after-hours doctor on call.
  5. Most Saturdays 8:30-11:30: Pediatrics West offers walk in Urgent Care hours at the Wheat Ridge location. Check back here on our website for details.
  6. We encourage you to leave things like medication refills and other non-urgent concerns to be addressed during our normal business hours.
We will be having sick child walk-in clinic on Saturday.
