About Starlene Peluso

Starlene, whose nickname is Star, was born in Los Angeles but was mostly raised in Colorado Springs. She graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In graduate school, Star received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Soon after, she moved to San Diego, followed by Los Angeles, where she worked 3,000 hours as an intern under a Licensed Psychotherapist. In January 2013, she became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Star gained experience as a clinician in a variety of settings; Parenting and More (private practice), a youth home with adolescent males from juvenile hall, public and non-public schools, and a pregnancy center.

Her love for kids began early on in life. Star also has 20+ years of experience with and a heart for the special needs and developmentally disabled population. Prior to moving back to Colorado, Star had a private practice in Santa Monica and although she misses the beaches, she enjoys being near family. Star is excited to explore the mountains and experience four seasons again while being reunited with some childhood friends. In her free time, she enjoys running, yoga, hiking, playing volleyball, and laughing with friends and family.

Star enjoys spending time with her husband, stepdaughter and other family and friends.

She feels honored to work at Pediatrics West with children, families, and consulting with physicians to connect mental health with physical health. Star believes that children are the future and that investing in them is extremely important and very rewarding!

Fun Fact

My twin sister and I were born in LA and asked to be on the show Charlie’s Angels (they needed babies/twins to swap out under the hot lights). Since my sister and I are fraternal and look nothing alike, my parents had to decline.
