With a potentially rough flu season on the horizon, Colorado has lost nearly $28 million in federal immunization funding.

Colorado’s health department was counting on federal COVID-era immunization funds to support vaccine outreach, reminder programs,
and equity initiatives. Those dollars have now been cut, forcing the state to scale back clinics, media campaigns, and community
contracts that help people — especially higher-risk communities — get access to flu and COVID vaccines.

  • Nearly $27.8 million in immunization funding has been withdrawn.
  • Fewer staff and fewer clinics, with a big hit to community-based outreach.
